Copper Replacement Agate Specimen
20 x 17 x 6mm (largest dimensions on right hand piece.)
Another special to the Keweenaw specimen in this beautiful Copper Replacement Agate. When a banded agate was formed eons ago, some of the banding was replaced with native copper instead of the normal agatized material that you would find in a traditional banded agate. These pieces are rare and typically associated with the Kearsarge Lode, and this one was found in the mine dumps from the Wolverine #1 Mine. These are not considered Lake superior Agates, but mining district agates.
