It is associated with native copper deposits in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. The characteristics 'cauliflower' shaped nodules range from 1-12 inches. The rarest colors are yellow, orange, green, and red. White and pink are more common. At time specks of copper or silver appear with the datolite. This rare mineral is found in old waste rock piles and in Lake Superior.
